Review: BeautyDNA December 2015

Review: Beauty DNA
December 2015

I just received my 1st BeautyDNA box.  BeautyDNA is a beauty subscription box that wants to end products that don't work for you.  BeautyDNA was created to solve this exact problem. It is not another subscription box that gives you the chance to sample groupings of products. BeautyDNA is smart, savvy and makes discovering beauty products easy and personal. They have one goal: To deliver you FULL-SIZED beauty products that you’ll fall in love with. To do this, they harness complex beauty factors and scientific information, and then match it against your specific needs and preferences. In fact, their system analyzes more than 100 million data points to identify each and every perfect product match they send out. BeautyDNA is personalized for YOU!  All of this is just $25 per month.

BeautyDNA is designed so that you never get the same product twice.  Additionally, they never deliver products from any of their core categories (Skin, Hair, Body) in consecutive months. Taking it one step further, the system is built so that subscribers do not receive a product type (i.e. shampoo, conditioner) more than once over the course of a year.

When you join, you fill out an extensive beauty profile. This profile was by far the most exhaustive beauty profile I've ever experienced. You select the types of products you want to try, for skincare, body,  and haircare as well as what concerns you have. For example, for hair they ask if your concerns are aging hair, dandruff, dry hair, split ends, dry scalp, fine hair, hair loss, and/or product buildup.  You also select your preferences for ingredients and what areas to treat.  For example, I selected natural, paraben-free, and sulfate-free products.

In the Box

Every box comes with a report on why they selected the product.  My product this month was My Body myHERO Probiotic Ultra Rich Cream. BeautyDNA stated that they selected this for me as its anti-aging but good for skin that is sensitive and has redness.  According to the My Body's website, the cream has "intensive bioactive moisturizing cream with Topical Probiotics, antioxidants, skin tighteners and a heroic complex of plant derived growth factor peptides helps correct and protect a compromised skin barrier while reducing redness to visibly bring youth, vitality and radiance to excessively dry, aging, hormonally depleted, and sensitive skin.

My Review of  My Body myHERO Probiotic Ultra Rich Cream: This cream is just that, a cream.  It was super thick and I worried that it would cause a break-out. I am happy to report that it never did cause my skin to break-out.  It is ultra-moisturizing so its been nice for the winter.  I haven't noticed a difference in redness yet, but it's only been a few weeks. My skin is nicely moisturized.

Box Value: $145  This box was worth $145. Tremendous value for a beauty subscription box that costs $25.

I was very happy with this box and look forward to my next BeautyDNA box.

Review: Glossybox November 2015

Review: Glossybox November 2015

Yeah! My first Glossybox came.  Glossybox is a beauty subscription box that features 5 to 6 luxury sized samples of beauty products for just $21 every month.  If you subscribe for 12 months, its just $18.50 per month. (Free shipping within the US.)  They promise that the box's value is more than twice the price you’d pay for the same products in the store.

After you get your box, you can share your feedback with Glossybox through product reviews and surveys, to start collecting GLOSSYDOTS to earn free GLOSSYBOXs.  You can also buy the products you just tried.

When you join, which I just did, they ask you to fill out a beauty profile.  Questions cover everything from skin to hair and include questions like "How would you describe your everyday look?" and "What is your nail polish preferences?"  The profile takes about 5 to 10 minutes to fill out.  You can change/edit your profile if your needs change.

I filled out my beauty profile on Monday and had my box on Thursday! The actual box itself is so cute-pink box with pink tissue paper.  This box would make a great gift just because of the packaging.

In the Box

D-Fine Lip Pencil by Beauty for Real. $14 at Beauty for Real.  My makeup routine consists of BB cream and mascara so, at first, seeing this lip pencil, scared me.  According to Beauty for Real, this is a universal shade that looks good on everybody and every skin tone.  I was skeptical, but the shade is spot-on.  It really is universal.  I've even been wearing it with lip gloss.

Mineral Eyeshadow- You're Toast by Marsk. $12.49 at Amazon.  I just mentioned that my makeup is pretty minimal, but when I do wear eyeshadows I prefer brown or neutral ones. This eyeshadow is perfect-a hint of shimmer with a Golden sand-swept tone.  You can wear it anytime.  I've been wearing it to work as I think it just might be the perfect daytime shade.  Love it!

Blackberry Primrose – Deep Hydration Mask by Florapy. $8 at  Florapy. I haven't tried any Korean skincare products yet, so I was super excited about this one.  However, this facial mask wasn't for me. The actual mask was awkward-I adjusted it but it still was ill-fitting on my face.  I also didn't really notice a difference in my face after using it.  I would try this company again though as it might have been a fluke due to it being my first time.

Revitalizing Supreme Global Anti-Aging Crème by Estee Lauder$12.99 at Amazon. According to Estee Lauder's website, this high-performance, multi-action moisturizer dramatically reduces the look of multiple signs of aging: lines, wrinkles, loss of firmness, dullness and dehydration.  It is very moisturizing and your skin can feel the difference.  I also loved the fragrance to this moisturizer.  This product is $50 for a full-size container so trying this before buying is a smart move.

La Source ® Ultra-Moisturising Hand Therapy by Crabtree & Evelyn. $8 at Amazon.  It's winter time here in the Northeast and my hands are starting to show it. This hand cream is infused with shea butter, macadamia nut oil and seaweed and algae extracts, so skin is noticeably smoother after each application. I've been using it and love it.

Box Value: $55.48 By my calculations, this box was worth around $55.

I was very happy with this box and look forward to my next Glossybox.

If you sign up for Glossybox, I will receive Glossydots to use to my next box.  Affiliate links were also used for Amazon. Thanks!
